Are you tired of rushing to the ferry line-up and finding out that the ferry is late or overloaded? A text messaging service has been developed that will allow you to plan around ferry times.

Requirements: Cell phone able to send an e-mail message and receive text messages or can be sent by e-mail.

How it works:

1) You can register for alerts for specific times, and/or

2) You can request information on demand

Example of text message:

12:00 has not left. 72 percent committed at 11:58 AM. 11:00 left 4 min late. Arrived at SNUG COVE 11:19

The message states that the 12:00 Ferry has not yet left Horseshoe Bay, 72% of the deck space has been committed at 11:58. The 11:00 ferry left 4 minutes late, arriving at Snug Cove at 11:19.

Small print: The response time is between 1 to 3 minutes from the time you send it from your phone and the reply that you receive. This service has been tested for the past year and it is working well. However, as it is dependent on information from BC Ferries, Rob Baker does not assume liability for any reason related to the use of this service.
